Update #4: Link to our new campaign

Posted on June 1, 2011

Hello,

I of course included the wrong link in my last post. Our new campaign is here, and we'd love it if you'd consider supporting the film by pledging to fund the next leg of our project by July 4th:

Thanks again for your interest in our project!

Update #3: The Wine Movie is still going strong

Posted on June 1, 2011

Greetings!

We're still in production with Vino Veritas, and since last fall, we've interviewed winemakers in Missouri, Sonoma, Orange County and Oregon. We've now been in a half dozen wine regions in four different states.

And we've launched a new campaign.  You can visit it here:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/3cm/vino-veritas-a-documentary-about-wine-in-america/

Our first funding effort wasn't successful, but this time around we've changed things up. We're not trying to raise a large amount, but rather just enough to film one segment of the documentary.

So if you're still interested in pledging and participating, please check out the new campaign site. You get to vote to tell us where we'll go next. We've still got great incentives.

Thanks for pledging the first time around. Even though we didn't make our goal, the fact that you were willing to support us means a lot. We're trying to raise $1,200 by July 4th to help fund us through the end of this harvest season. So check out our incentives, and thanks for your support!

Cheers!

David

Update #2: Last day - The Wine Movie moves forward

Posted on November 5, 2010

Today is the last day of our KickStarter campaign, and I can't thank you enough for your pledges. Your generosity and energy is what keeps the spirit of such projects alive.

The good news is that we received over $1,000 in pledges. And during the process we sent hundreds of emails, dozens of press releases, held two great live events with the help of the folks from WineStyles Corvallis and Harris Bridge Vineyards, pounded the pavement and handed out flyers to strangers and held giveaways on our social networks. Throughout the entire process there has been a lot of enthusiasm for our film.

In the end, though, we're not going to even come close to making our goal. Barring a last minute angel donor stepping up, your pledge will likely not be charged. That doesn't mean the project is dead. We're certainly going to rethink things. Should we position it more as a local film and look to alternate, regional funding sources (and cut down travel costs)? Do we extend the timeline and chip away at it as we can? Should we shorten the overall length, or produce the film in more manageable segments?

As we figure out our way forward, I hope that you all continue to support creative projects and help cultivate new voices in film and media.

Thanks again, and cheers!

Update #1: Vino Veritas Midpoint

Posted on October 3, 2010

Greetings,

We can't thank our you enough for your support. We're making steady progress on the campaign with a little more than a month to go. I wanted to share some quick updates.

On the documentary front, we're waiting on the Oregon harvest for our next shoot. We expect our film to consist of 4-6 'chapters' about different people and aspects of the wine industry. The transition pieces between each chapter will be a visual/musical coverage of one element of the winemaking process. After the viewer watches the film, we want them to not only learn the human stories that go into every bottle of wine, but also feel like they've experienced the cyclical, year-long process of winemaking themselves.

We'll share exclusive clips with you along the way.

On another note, our short narrative film "A Country Wedding" will be screening at the Salem Film Festival in Salem, OR (www.salemfilmfestival.com) in October.

Thanks again for your support. This type of project wouldn't happen without you. Please share information about this project with your friends and family members who are interested in wine, movies or both. And don't forget to connect on Facebook or Twitter: http://facebook.com/threecrowsmedia and http://twitter.com/thewinemovie

Cheers!
