About this project
Vino Veritas is a feature-length documentary about wine. And we need your help to make it. Here's the synopsis:
There are plenty of obsessions in the world: sports, money, sex, politics and religion. But few endeavors attract as much devotion as wine. Aficionados will shell out hundreds of dollars for a single bottle and travel the world over to taste new vintages.But some are called to wine on another level. They have that peculiar American quality that convinces them that they can leave everything behind and redefine themselves. They risk it all, giving up careers, families, friends…everything they’ve ever known…to reinvent their lives in wine.
This film is the story of ordinary people with an extraordinary passion. It’s the story of the moment they fell in love with wine. It is a film for dreamers: anyone who has ever loved a bottle of wine or stood in a vineyard, closed their eyes and imagined a different life. It is the story of success and failure, and the mystery that turns a humble batch of crushed fruit into a lifelong obsession.
Vino Veritas: an American wine movie has already started production and is planned for completion in 2012. We're raising funds primarily for travel expenses so that we can make this film as broadly representative of wine in America as we can. We've already uncovered a wealth of amazing wine stories, and with your help, we can track down even more.
No matter how much we raise, we're going to make a great film. The amount raised will determine the scope of the movie. We're dedicated to making a professional and beautifully shot documentary, and we hope that you'll be proud to have been a part of it from very start. We're also committed to stretching every dollar as far as it will go to make sure we honor your contribution. You'll be able to follow our exploits along the way.

You should note that your credit card will not be charged unless we meet our funding goal by the deadline. If we don't reach $5,000, we get nothing, and you lose nothing. Every dollar toward that goal will be a huge help.

You will receive a copy of the completed film in digital HD format along with a handy Vino Veritas pocket tasting guide, designed by Truen Pence and featuring the wit and wisdom of our interview subjects. You will also be entered in our drawings.

You will receive a finished copy of the completed film along with "Vino Veritas" in printed form, a full-color companion featuring gorgeous locations and portraits from the film, along with interviews and our favorite stories from on and off camera. The book will be designed by artists Truen and Julia Pence. You will also be entered in our drawings.

You will receive a copy of the finished film along with a Vino Veritas tasting guide, entrance in our drawings, a bottle of wine discovered during filming, plus a limited edition, signed movie poster print from artist and printmaker Juila Pence. You will also be entered in drawings with all donors to receive various souvenirs from the road and featured wineries.

You will receive all of the above awards, plus a Willamette Valley Wine Weekend that includes guided tours (by car or on bicycle, your choice). You will be responsible for transportation to the Willamette Valley, and we'll do the rest, taking you to meet our favorite winemakers, arranging behind the scenes tours of area wineries, and then furnishing a Willamette Valley themed wine dinner that includes special guests from the film. You will also be entered in drawings with all donors to receive various souvenirs from the road and featured wineries.
