Our Goal is to Produce our 2013 Collection of Fashionable & Affordable 'African-inspired' apparel in a socially responsible way.
Who are we?
NYANGA creations (pronounced nee-yan-gah) is a fashion label dedicated to bringing you unique contemporary fashions with the essence of Africa. We are not looking to mass produce and reproduce trends but rather to create one-of-a-kind pieces which will accentuate any wardrobe.
What do we want to do?
With the funds raised from this project, we will produce our first Ready-To-Wear Collection which will be showcased at an amazing launch event in the heart of New York City, in the Fall of 2013. We know there is a market for our garments because we get inquiries and requests from individuals from around the world, and currently have standing offers from a few interested boutiques. We see great potential in our work and therefore need to revamp our current production process in order to meet demand, and produce quality and affordable garments with efficiency and consistency.
The 2013 launch event will be our official introduction to the public. This project will provide us with the funds to produce the new collection, and host the launch event.
What do we need?
A total of $7,000 is needed to cover all the costs associated with this project;
1) Producing our first ready-to-wear collection: The majority of the funds raised will be applied directly to the production of our collection. The costs will include Purchasing and producing custom fabrics, trimmings, accessories, Cost of transporting materials to and from Africa, Payment of worker wages, Clothing labels/hang tags/care labels, Product photography costs, and other costs associated with producing the 2013 collection.
2) Off-set the Cost of Hosting our 2013 Launch Event: Down-payment on event space and Payment of event workers.
3) Kickstarter/ Amazon Fees & Rewards: The project fees will range from 8% - 10% of the total amount raised, and we don't plan to cut corners on your awesome rewards.
But because Kickstarter is an "all-or-nothing" deal, we are setting the goal at $5000, and plan to supplement the remaining costs (if any) out-of-pocket.
$5000 will at least fulfill the fees, rewards and cover some of our plans however, our target is $7,000 since Kickstarter will issue funds if we raise more than our goal, but $0 if we don't reach it.
How can you help?
Pledge any of the amounts on the right! The beauty of Kickstarter is that no money is withdrawn until the project reaches or surpasses its goal, so you will not be charged unless we reach our goal of at least $5000.
