Churches in Alabama that are Historic or in some way unique, Captured with Holga and Diana Plastic cameras

Churches of Alabama is a new Photobook of selected Historic and scenic churches in Alabama spanning at least 16 counties. This book will also provide information and history about these churches(when available) as well as information about each county.

When considering this project, I wanted to do something more creative and unique. Since I had been shooting with a Holga Medium Format Plastic Toy Camera for a few months, Having been inspired by the images produced by  press photographer David Burnett using the Holga and 4x5 Speed Graphic    some time before this. I decided to use the Holga and Diana cameras to document some of the scenic and historic churches in Alabama.

These cameras have been used by Fine art and creative photographers for a long time due to their ability to render a different perspective from the common or mundane. Even Ansel Adams was a fan of the Diana.

So instead of shooting digital, I chose to be more creative and document these churches with plastic cameras.
