The Clown That Lost His Funny is a children's book written by Lauren (age 11). It's a really fun and heartfelt story.

The Clown that Lost His Funny is a children's book written by my daughter Lauren.  She's 11 years old and in the 5th grade.  For the last several months, we've been working on this story and now she's finished writing.  She's ready to produce and publish her first book.

Hairy the Clown loves his job at the circus.  But one day, something tragic happens and he ends up losing his ability to be funny.  He's forced to get a job he doesn't like.  What happens next is really cool.  

The Clown That Lost His Funny is a heartwarming story everyone will enjoy.  There are even some great life lessons. 

Here are two things you need to know:

1.  The book is WRITTEN and it's really good.  Not just for an 11 year old.  For anyone!  The ideas and words belong to Lauren.

2.  We've also hired an illustrator and the first test images are complete.  The style is really good, and it matches her writing perfectly.

What remains is completing the rest of the illustrations, formatting the book, and sending it to the printer!

Here's where we need your help.  

We need to raise $5,500 to complete the rest of the illustrations, typeset and layout the book, and print the first 300 copies.  We've got everything lined up and a solid production timeline - we just need your help to make it happen.

The manuscript is complete and the first illustration is complete. It will take some time to finish all of the drawings, but we're ready to go. We're going to work hard to get this done by the end of the school year.

Kickstarter is all or nothing, meaning if we don't at least $5,500 of pledges, we won't get anything. Hairy would really be sad.

  • What happens if more money is pledged?

    We will use the extra money to order more books, and get Hairy's store to more people.

  • What happens if $5,500 isn't pledged?

    The project won't be funded.  Kickstarter is all or nothing, so if the goal isn't met then cards won't be charged and the project will go unfunded.
