What is Perch?
Perch is a 2D platformer game with physics puzzles. A young girl climbs higher and higher through the seasons. It will be easy enough for casual players to pick up, but still fun for experienced gamers.
It will be released as a free-to-play Flash game, which will be playable in the browser.
The spring level would contain basic platforming with a few challenges - moving platforms and loose platforms (logs).
The summer level would add a few more challenges, including crumbling platforms.
The fall level would add wind to the mix, blowing them to the side while jumping.
The final winter level would add ice to all platforms, forcing the player to keep jumping before they slide off.
Why am I making this game?
Mostly because I love making games. If I could do that all day, and still pay the rent, that would be the bee's knees.
The game is currently playable (as you can see in the video). The graphics are fairly basic at this point. Most of the physics and gameplay code is in place, but needs tweaking. Just the Spring level has been designed. Overall, I would estimate the game is about 30% complete.
I have been developing games for over 15 years. Some of my latest games are: Fat Slice, Barry Lost His Marbles (2nd place winner of the Kongregate Mobile contest) and SpaceJunk (winner of the UGO game fest) . I have also worked as the programmer for Bullet Proof Arcade, which created Dungeon King, Orbital Guard and Red Riot.
Why I need funding
Your support would help me finish up the code and graphics, and license some music for the game.

The game will be playable through the browser on any platform that runs Flash (Windows, Mac and Linux). I will also be sending out standalone copies of the game (that run on their own, without a browser) to all backers.
