A post-apocalyptic love story. Winner of two Best Feature awards. Get a signed copy and your name in the credits!
+++ $1 is just an easy goal to get us started. We're trying to raise as much as possible to pay for festival fees, screener costs (manufacturing and shipping), new sound design, advertising and promotion, theater rentals, etc. +++
The Sky Has Fallen is an independent horror film that won Best Horror Feature at the 2009 Indie Gathering Film Festival and Best Feature at the 2009 Freak Show Horror Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best Score at the 2009 British Film Festival LA. We need your help to get this post-apocalyptic monster out into the world. The money you pledge will go towards submitting the movie to more festivals, sending out more screeners for reviews, taking the film around to independent theaters, advertising and promoting it, authoring more DVDs, etc. Plus, we'll be editing the final cut of the film (with your credits! and a lot of new footage) and paying for new sound design. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated even if it's only referring a friend. The film is already on IMDb so you can get your credits as soon as your pledge is collected. Thanks!
What's the story?
Within a couple hours, a new plague wipes out almost all of the world's population. Trying to avoid infection, people flee to remote locations, but they start seeing mysterious black figures carrying away the dead and experimenting on them. Now, Lance and Rachel, two survivors determined to fight back, must kill the leader of these creatures before the rest of humanity disappears.
It's a character-driven, blood-soaked love story with extremely high stakes. A lot of post-apocalyptic films tend to end up as people wandering from place to place, trying to survive. While that can work, the lead character in this movie, Lance, has a clear goal: killing the leader, and he's determined to do it no matter the odds. It's the only hope they have. And the story also looks at the risk of relationships in this kind of world. People are slaughtered so easily and so often that it's dangerous to even make friends with someone, because you could get yourself killed trying to protect them or be destroyed psychologically by their loss.
Why is the forest still so green if it's post-apocalyptic?
No nukes went off or anything. If a virus like Ebola killed billions, all the grass and trees wouldn't die. Plus, I wanted to avoid the typical desaturated look of post-apocalyptic films wherein everything is ugly and bleak. There was no reason for that in the story, and my two biggest influences were Japanese films like Versus and South Korean cinema like A Tale of Two Sisters, Oldboy, etc. The latter often puts beauty and horror side by side. This story is also pretty dark already so I think making it visually grim would be too much.

ZOMBIE CAMEO in the final cut. I'll transform you into a gruesome hideous monster and give you a proper, albeit brief, death in one of the fight scenes. This has to be shot in March or very early April in Missouri. Transportation and lodging not included. This won't be as fun as it sounds since gelatin makeup tends to smell and it'll be attached to your face. Plus, you'll be covered in blood (but what a great Christmas photo you'll have!). You also nab a Co-Producer credit, signed Limited Edition movie, Production Artwork, T-Shirt, and a mystery prop. We'll put you in the behind the scenes too assuming you don't want to kill us after all the makeup.Estimated delivery: Apr 2012
