Production SnowXus Are Here!

Update #11 · Dec 18, 2012 · comment

Hi Everyone!

Our first batch of production SnowXus have fiiiiiiiiiiiiinally arrived.  I had posted an update back in September about one of our many production challenges.  Well...we made it through that and a few more challenges and the first batch has arrived.  So we are sending them out to you!  Thank you all so much for your support, grace and patience.  And more patience.

I'll attach a couple photos here of the first unwrapping and of boxes ready to go out to you via fedex tomorrow.  First sets are going out to those who chose to wait it out for the production version.  For those of you who got to try the prototype sets and got vouchers for an upgrade, you may upgrade on whatever schedule you would like.  You might choose to upgrade now, or you could also choose to wait for gen III.  Whatever makes you happy.  Just message us directly and let us know when you are ready to upgrade and we'll send you new ones plus a shipping label to send your old ones back.  If there is any trouble reaching us via the kickstarter site, you can go to snowxu.com and contact us from there also.

(As a reminder, some of the improved features include an added binding toe piece that better locates your foot, strengthened even more abuse-proof cleat and folding mechanism, hard-anodized black cleats, urethane rubber binding plate (to remedy a fatigue issue with the previous nylon version), and black-oxide coated stainless steel hardware)

We're also working on getting shirts and other goodies out.  Sorry those got de-prioritized a bit during the giant push on manufacturing.

As you'll see in the pictures, the straps are now grey rather than the original light orange that didn't match the yellow frames.  Truth be told, we're still debating color schemes (I suspect we always will be), but my goal with the grey straps and black hardware was to make them disappear so that the unique folding X frame and interesting deck shape would be the dominant simple contrasting visual elements.  The factory had some trouble matching color specs and we're just not going to waste any more of this season debating shades of grey...  But hey, we want you to have them snow-encrusted rather than hanging on the wall.  (though I suppose if you want to hang them on the wall as your decor, we're not going to stop you).

So we're thrilled to be sending them to you.  Let us know what you think and send pictures!

Cheers

Jamie, Deb and the gang
