We learned
some great marketing lessons here that will serve us well at GoPad’s new
crowdfunding home. We would have loved
to stay however we had no alternative but to cancel this project and move it to
a site that has less restrictive guidelines
concerning “sales oriented” campaigns. We respect and
admire Kickstarter’s decision to
return to its social activism roots however we can’t let that decision
jeopardize GoPad’s commercial success.
Our project’s inadmissibility under Kickstarter’s
new guideline resulted in it being twice refused approval for a
strategically-timed re-launch. Moving our timeline slightly forward was essential in order
to capitalize on some very positive national TV coverage. That upcoming GoPad demonstration in front of
nearly 2 million TV viewers can now be timed perfectly to serve our
crowdfunding needs at the new launch site.
We wish ongoing success to both Kickstarter and GoPad as we dance
off along our respective entrepreneurial paths.
Read our Project Plan by clicking on my bio above. In it you’ll see that we’re projecting delivery in March ... but why should you believe that estimate? First, we learned a lot about manufacturing while commercializing our “Scruzol” product (it's now GoPad's $10 pledge reward). Then we learned even more while manufacturing the first production run of GoPads that you seen demonstrated in the videos above. That real-world experience should inspire confidence that our March delivery estimate is realistic.
That said, Kickstarter supporters should be aware that any manufacturing project of this complexity has the potential for delays. Our Project Team is adept at devising solutions to typical production glitches and should be able to keep delivery on schedule. We’ll also be insuring high quality through a series of prototype iterations and QC sign-offs.
Supporters will receive regular progress updates because good communications are an essential element of good Kickstarting!
