Update #6: New Design

Posted on October 7, 2009

Well, after reading all the comments (mostly negative) from Gizmodo and the like, I am knee-deep in a re-design. The new model will be a little faster, simpler, and crush cans to less than 10% of original volume.

Details will be posted when available.

Update #4: Functional Test: Longer version

Posted on September 26, 2009

Had to get new batteries for my Flip Video recorder :o)

Here's a bit longer version of a can getting crushed. Over 40 cans so far on one battery and no signs of slowing down yet....awesome!

Enjoy,
Doug

Update #3: Prototype Functional Test

Posted on September 26, 2009

After a week of minor modifications, the first can crushing this morning was a success. Here's a video of the functional test.

Next week I should have it packaged in a 32 gallon lid with a hopper to feed cans.

Enjoy,
Doug

Posted on September 19, 2009

Here's a quick video of the prototype in action. Just a little smoke check to verify component operation and wiring. Can crushing video coming soon.

Thanks Backers!
