About this project
The seed of inspiration for this project was planted in the Blue Mountains of Australia in 2002. After the death of my father, I took time away to come to terms with the loss. While kicking around the desert, I met a reclusive artist who told me about the Fibonacci Sequence. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I still can't.
THE WHO.
Hi, I'm Steven James Scott. I'm a filmmaker and a photographer, and I'm working on something interesting that I'd like to share with the world. It's my debut feature, so I figure I'll go big with it.
THE WHAT.
Fibonacci Huh? If you've never heard of the Fibonacci numbers, you've no doubt seen them in action. The Fibonacci Sequence appears everywhere in Nature, in the way that plants grow, how honeybee colonies develop, even the way Galaxies are formed. Mathematics is the language of Nature, or is it the other way around?
It isn't just a movie about math, it's about the message behind the math. Is there something deeper? I'll be honest. I don't yet know how the film ends. But this is how it begins.
THE WHAT, PART II.
I have already done a few preliminary interviews for this trailer, which is a microcosm of what I'm going to develop into the feature film. And there is a lot more work to do. That's where Kickstarter (and you) can help...
THE WHEN.
Over the next six months I want to create enough material to finish the first thirty minutes of the film. A 'proof of concept' piece that will attract additional investors, and hopefully fund the completion of the film. The target release date is December 2012.
THE WHERE.
For the moment, we are concentrating on Europe, which is very densely populated by a lot of smart people, and inexpensive for travel. But eventually everywhere from Australia to Los Angeles.
THE HOW:
This is a Kickstarter in the truest sense. The funds generated here will pay for:
- film equipment rentals, including camera, sound and other production gear.
- research. As with any doc, this takes time, resources, and most importantly, money.
- travel and accommodations (nothing fancy, but we have to stay somewhere)
- buying stock footage (it's crazy expensive!)
- creating the CGI that will bring the visual side of the film to life.
- my small, dedicated crew.
Every dollar will be put towards its intended purpose: Making this film a reality.
THE WHY.
Because I want to challenge people to question their own beliefs about the world
around them, and maybe bring about a global shift in consciousness. Yeah, only that.

Raised in Alaska, Steven James Scott spent his formative years hopping glaciers and listening to punk rock.
After moving to Seattle and receiving his film degree in 1997, he has worked as a cameraman, director, and editor, in film and television, for the past 13 years.
From Seattle to Tokyo to Los Angeles, where he began working as a fashion photographer, Steven has relocated to Berlin, where he is currently in development on The Sequence, his debut feature film.
