VIDEO! The Making of the Wabi Nabe

Update #9 · Nov 16, 2012 · comment

Hey backers!

We hope you are still enjoying your Wabi Nabe.

We just posted a video of the Wabi Nabes being fabricated during the most recent round of orders in 2012. Thought you'd like to see all that went into the pots you've got.

ODLCO Product Launch #2: Capitol Butter Dish

Update #8 · Aug 20, 2012 · comment

Hello Wabi Nabe backers!

Thanks to you, ODLCO is a self-sustaining, growing design business. Today, we've just launched our second product, the Capitol Butter Dish, and wanted you to be the first to know. We couldn't have done this without your support on the Wabi Nabe project.

With election season right upon us, the butter dish is a lighthearted counterpoint to heavy news media coverage, but also a reminder to exercise your right to vote.

The piece references token building souvenirs seen around DC, but it's made with the attentive hand of a craftsman. It's cast in high-fire porcelain for strength and is dishwasher safe.

ODLCO continues to work with regional manufacturers, and this project is no exception. It's made right here in Chicago.

The dish, designed by Morgan Carter for ODLCO, is available exclusively at http://odlco.com/catalog/capitol-butter-dish/.  We're selling the first 100 dishes at a special introductory price of $50 (two per state, wink).

All Wabi Nabe Kickstarter Rewards have been shipped

Update #6 · Dec 22, 2011 · 1 comment

 Backers,

All your pots and trivets were shipped between last Friday and this Tuesday via USPS Priority Mail. Most should arrive before Christmas, with the exception of International orders. A tracking number was sent to the email you have provided kickstarter--if you haven't seen this, check your spam folder.

The pots were lightly seasoned before being shipped to you. Inside are instructions on how to apply extra coats of seasoning yourself, which we highly recommend. We imagine most of you are familiar with using cast iron cookware, but just a reminder not to clean your pot with soap. Especially in early uses, its preferable to wipe the pot clean. If you need to rinse it, dry immediately and wipe with a thin coat of oil to help maintain the seasoning, which will become more and more durable throughout the pot's life.

Finally, your pot is unique! Due to the handworked, rough nature of the green sand casting, each pot has slightly different surfacing, with a collection of small nicks and irregularities that add to the wabi sabi charm of the pot.

Enjoy!
