Two fairly big pieces of news. First, the ENEMIES Project has a two-page spread in this month's issue of ORIGIN Magazine. Origin is an Austin based art and living magazine that went national last year. ORIGIN is currently available in Whole Foods stores around the country and a few other places. Here is the article, and a picture of the front of the magazine...
The other possible big news is this... Last month I was asked to be a part of JR's InsideOut Project for Austin. JR is one of the most brilliant photographers today (in my opinion), and if you don't know him you should. JR received a TED Prize last year and is using the prize for this global collaborative photography project. Here is a link to his talk about it: JR's TED Prize Talk about InsideOut. If you have never heard of JR you should watch this video.
Contributing to the Austin InsideOut project will be interesting, but it isn't high on my list of priorities since it isn't my own project. But, there is a lot of interest in a collaboration between InsideOut and my ENEMIES Project. The Austin InsideOut Project will debut on International Peace Day in September, and I am looking into doing a large scale projection on the side of 2-4 tall buildings in Austin with images from ENEMIES. We might also paste some large images on buildings as well. I am also having talks with Inside Out about the possibility of doing large building paste-ups in some of the countries I photograph in. I have to think long and hard about that one, though, because it has serious potential of putting people in danger. I'll only do it if it is 100% not an issue.
That's the news. Thank you again for all your support. I will probably be making a trip to NY in April. If any of you have any people in NY who you think I should meet, please let me know and help me make the connection.
