Onward & Upward
It’s been a week since we put up our Kickstarter project and the response to it has been heartening. Backers began pledging within the first few hours, and we really appreciate their early and generous support. We’ve gotten many nice e-mails from people who plan to contribute and also wanted to tell us they liked our video (comments from “authentic and engaging” to “great video dude!”). The opening artwork seems to have struck a chord as well.
Mike’s music and playing have broad appeal, attracting followers of jazz, Latinjazz, and salsa as well as general listeners drawn in by the colors, energy, and enticing rhythms of the performance and compositions. In the video, you’ll catch the great Papo Pepin, the conga player’s conga player, the dynamic and highly original Harry Adorno on timbales, and Ruben Rodriguez, Mr. Group MaxBajo Glue, who’s played across the globe.
Coming up with rewards for this project was kind of fun once we got going. The ZonaVibe wooden vibraphone ornament was a serendipitous discovery. Backers at the 5 Mallet level and above will receive this ornament along with a behind-the-scenes DVD of Mike Freeman ZonaVibe’s recording sessions for the new CD. At 6 Mallets and above, backers also receive a bag of Carl’s Choice coffee, a pleasing blend of Fair Trade coffees. Yum!
