About this project
Notes on Olympia: This film takes place in Paris, Rome, Athens, New York and Los Angeles. I have been directing as well as acting up to this point making a film shot almost entirely by 1 person. I also wrote the music for the film which is not only part of the film but is integral to its story. The movie is being shot on the 16mm camera that you see in the beginning of the video. The most difficult thing up to this point has been getting to a place where I can continuously work on the film until it is complete without having to try to raise more funds in the middle of shooting...Your contribution will allow me to complete my film.
What I want: I need the money in order to finish shooting the film.
How I plan to achieve it: Using incentives to boost donations, and attempting to involve the many people I come in contact with, I will raise 25,000 and then finish the film within 2 months of raising the funds.
How the money will be used:
Travel, Transport, Accommodations and Misc. Expenses - $14,210
(For Director/Actors and Production costs)
Film Stock - $3000
(15,000 ft. of film) roughly 5 hrs...
Film Processing and Transfer - $3334
(Processing $1,744 + Transfer $1590)
Costumes and Props - $1551
(For main characters)
Equipment - $1917
(Sound Equip, Mic's, Lights, Rentals etc...)
Music Score - $1000
(Studio time, Mix, Master)
Total = $25,012
Bio of Olympia: More than 3 years ago I began this film called Olympia. It was and still is most important to me to make a film about young people and this film is really a product of that interest. It has been said since the 1950's by director Roberto Rosselini that we need films not about subjects but by people taking their cameras into the streets and documenting the world in front of them. It is in the spirit of those words that my film Olympia is being made. I began creating my film not with a script but with locations and it was after I had traveled extensively with my film camera, and had shot many spontaneous locations and people, that I wrote a script to give form to my experiences and ideas which resulted in the film: OLYMPIA
The Story: Two men from different time periods are involved with the same woman. For one man (a magazine journalist in 2010) the woman is a mystery, known only through the anonymous letters she sends and their spontaneous encounters. For the other man (a musician in 1968) she is a constant in his life but he continues to seek out another world. As their story with her unfolds, the film transcends a fictional setting by including interviews with people in the places they travel to and documentaries of historical events. As the documentary element and story merge, the distance between these two men and their own time and place is blurred, transforming their individual identities and what they are looking for...OLYMPIA

I was born in California depending on which day you ask me. I consider myself a musician who is also a writer and filmmaker or some other combination of creative vices - I've discovered a lot of myself in each of them. I play music in outfit called Hand and have done so for many years now. I first became interested in film sometime in the 90's after seeing the first ever foreign/independent films brought to California and with my introduction to Eric Rohmer I fell completely in love with cinema. I attended college at The New School in New York and made my first films from found footage. I have devoted most all of my time to working various jobs when I have spare time and to writing, working on my films and playing music when I don't. My music and writing - you can view through the link below. I moved to Los Angeles in order to seriously pursue the blonde women of my youth and to be close to the family and friends I have there and to complete my film, which brings us to today.
