About this project
GameTunnel (www.gametunnel.com) was one of the first websites that focused on the indie gaming scene. It was founded in 2002 and had years of great coverage, monthly game roundups, game of the year awards, indie game reviews and more. The founder of the site left a few years ago and the new owners tried to carry on the site's monthly coverage and legacy, but eventually got overwhelmed and stopped generating new content back in September of 2009.
Indie Game Magazine (www.indiegamemag.com) to the Rescue!
Everyone here at the Indie Game Magazine had been fans of GameTunnel and checked in on the website monthly and were sad to see the indie coverage drop off. Eventually, we got in contact with the site owners and ended up buying the site....
Great! so what's the Problem?
...The problem is IGM is a small community driven magazine and we kind of blew our load on purchasing GameTunnel. We want to completely redesign, relaunch and resurrect GameTunnel, but we just don't have the time, money, and resources so we need your help! We are hoping to raise $3500 to fund a complete GameTunnel makeover. The vast majority of the money will be used to hire people to redesign and recode the website. We would love to merge and integrate www.indiegamemag.com and www.gametunnel.com together (single sign-on, shared profiles, social media, etc.) but it all depends on how much money we raise. The more we raise, the cooler the new GameTunnel will be. The rest of the money raised will be used to manage and generate content for the site and cover the cost of some of the great rewards and prizes that we're offering.
Every Backer of this project will be able to help influence the direction that we take GameTunnel.com. We will get several design mockups of the new site and will share them with all our backers to get your opinion on the best design. We are open to discussing the important features that indie gamers, developers and fans are looking for. If you back this project, you will not only be funding it but can actively contribute to the end result!
We are also offering great rewards to our backers (see sidebar). We're offering Indie Game Mag Subscriptions, Issues, Advertising opportunities on our websites, and throwing in some great other incentives and rewards as well.

Indie Game Magazine is the premier source of news and culture for the independent gaming. Started in October 2008 and published bi-monthly by Mike Gnade, IGM has matured into a definitive voice for the indie gaming scene. Combining no-nonsense reviews, in-depth reviews and long-form features with the leading lights of the industry, the magazine, like the games it covers, is independently owned and fiercely independent as it strives to highlight the artists and community behind what it deems the most creative branch of the video gaming universe.
