About this project
Yeaah Girl. We're shooting a feature length movie with the budget of a short film.
What do we have? Lots of talent and $5,000 of our own money. What do we need? To feed our actors, buy some permits, get really amazing sound, and fly our director of photography down from Canada (eh?).
Written by, starring, and directed by Geoff Lerer, Spencer is part autobiographical, part emotional wonderland, and all indie goodness.
This film is going to be shot in 12 days in fall 2010. The goal is to have this puppy edited and ready to submit to SXSW in December.
Here's where you can help. Our initial investment will cover equipment and the first bit of shooting. We'll have just enough to get started, and your contribution will swoop in just in time to feed our actors and hire an amazing sound guy.
Our executive producers Marissa and Chris combined have produced 2 films, 2 records, and 200 websites. We're also excited to welcome producer Kenneth Hull from Austin to the team.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:
Meet Spencer (Geoff Lerer), a determined director and writer who's paid his dues and finally gets his break: a $30,000 budget and a chance to direct Jane (Alyssa Sutherland), his supermodel girlfriend, in his very first feature length film.
The problem: Jane just booked a Ridley Scott film in Australia, she doesn't want to do Spencer's movie... oh, and she doesn't love him anymore.
Broke, broken-hearted, and dropped by his producer (no Jane - no funding), Spencer swallows his pride and takes a job as a "back-up clown" with Tommy (Andrew Kaempfer), Jane's step-brother who incidentally doesn't know that they've broken up. Through a dance-party grief support group and a renewed friendship with an actress friend Lindsay (Lindsay Teed), Spencer searches for a new lead and $30,000 to resurrect his project.
Can Spencer raise his film from the ashes, or is it more than just money that's kept him from living his dreams?
