We have 18 days left in our Kickstarter campaign, and we are 60% funded. A great big thank you to our 43 backers so far!
A friend asked us for some good reasons why they should support A Peace of My Mind in trying to produce a book…and we thought we’d share the list with all of you…
10 reasons why you should consider supporting A Peace of My Mind in the Kickstarter campaign
#1 Because we could all use a little encouragement.
Spend some time reading these 52 stories and you will realize that there is an immense amount of good happening in the world today. Ordinary people are making extraordinary efforts to make this world a better place.
#2 Because the world is becoming more polarized.
You don’t have to look far in the media to find people asking you to focus on the differences that separate us. This book takes the time to explore the common humanity that connects us.
#3 Because understanding our neighbors can lead to a better world.
Our world is becoming increasingly diverse and this book gives us a window into the lives and aspirations of people who may be familiar to us, and some who may not.
#4 Because you can spend more time reading the interviews.
If you’ve seen the traveling exhibit for A Peace of My Mind, you realize that there is a lot of content to absorb in a gallery visit. A book would give you more time with these stories.
#5 Because a book is easy to share with your friends.
This project is about encouraging conversations about peace. Imagine yourself handing the book to a friend and saying, “Take a look at this…I’d love to hear your thoughts when you return it.”
#6 Because that coffee-table book of cute puppies is starting to annoy your friends.
Everyone needs something new on the coffee-table from time to time. (A special thanks to Barry Yeoman for this one.)
#7 Because people at the traveling exhibit keep asking “When is the book coming out?”
This would let me give them an answer, instead of just shrugging my shoulders.
#8 Because this book can help promote the idea of listening.
As often as we’ve been told that listening is important, we don’t seem to do it very well…this book is an exercise in listening…and learning…about others.
#9 Because grass roots campaigns can help build community.More than 40 people so far have stood up and said “We can do this!” You just might want in on that.
#10 Because John Lennon said it long ago and we still believe it today.
“All we are saying….is give peace a chance.”
Two and a half weeks to go in this campaign...I am grateful for all your support....onward!
