When I arrived for my interview with General Moore, he was being visited... Not by family members or even friends, for that matter, but by complete strangers who traveled some 300 miles, just to shake his hand and get an autograph. Seeing the way they were carrying on with General Moore, I assumed that they were friends, it was only later on that I learned they were just fans of General Moore and had to come and spend some time with this "national treasure." You see that's the type of man General Moore is... Warm, approachable, giving, kind and above all else he loves to share his experiences with people. I asked one of his guests, before staring my interview what it was about him that made their trip a necessity. She simply replied, "He's General Hal Moore."
In honor of General Moore and the impact he has had on me and this project, I am offering a new $75.00 backer reward. It will include a digital copy of the finished film, Reflections, plus a copy of General Moore's second book, a New York Time's Best Seller, We Are Soldiers Still, A Journey Back to the Battlefields of Viet Nam. This book chronicles General Moore's quest to spend one more night in the Ia Drang Valley and at the age of 71 accomplishes his goal with some of the soldiers who served under him during the infamous battle. The book is an incredible insight into General Moore's new found friendship with his one time foe, Geneal An, who was the the commanding officer for the People's Army of Viet Nam, during the Battle of the Ia Drang Valley.
In the following video General Moore speaks about his return to Viet Nam and how he and General An went from foe, trying to kill each other, to friends.
