An amazing Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical telling the story of a family through pain, loss and, finally, hope.

Hub Theatre Group ("HTG") is proud to have received from Music Theatre International, the rights to perform the musical Next to Normal (music by Tom Kitt and book by Brian Yorkey) at the Firehouse Theatre in the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts on May 18-20 and May 25-27.

HTG is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization and member company of LHUCA celebrating its fifth year of existence and has dedicated its efforts toward producing small, actor-driven pieces that are meaningful and compelling. We have produced shows such as Dinner with Friends, 'Night Mother, Doubt and The Guys. We are thrilled to have the chance to do a musical that not only won Tony Awards, but the Pulitzer Prize in drama and is consistent with the things we have done in the past. Next to Normal is an exciting, rock musical that "Rolling Stone" referred to as "the best musical of the season by a mile."

The story of a woman and her family dealing with bipolar disorder also gives us the opportunity to partner with mental health professionals and we have joined with MHMR and other organizations to use the performance to reduce stigma and tell the story of those who may not have a voice in our community. We are also presenting the  show during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month.

We have a talented cast of stellar performers including Claire Bryan, Emma Lehtinen, Layne Kight, Travis Burge, Stephen Velasquez and Paula Chanda. The piece is directed by Bob Chanda and Franscisco Rendon will be the Musical Director.

We are currently in rehearsals and will perform parts of the musical on April 6 at an event to raise awareness for bipolar disorder called "Next to Normal: Arts and the Community" which will also feature speakers from mental health agencies and a performance piece entitled "Voices from Lubbock and Beyond."

You contribution to our project will be applied to paying for space rental at the Firehouse Theatre. For more information about the show, please go to www.hubtheatregroup.org
