Hello and Happy New Year from "The Weird World of Blowfly"!
Let me say, first and foremost, thank you again to everyone for their support of the film. All your donations are greatly appreciated and I'm very thankful for everyone's efforts to promote the film and the Kickstarter project, but we've still got a long way to go so please keep spreading the word. If we don't raise another $10,000 in the next ten days, none of the donations will be processed, the film receives no money, and you don't get your sweet rewards.
I know it seems like a daunting task but there's a lot of work happening to move things along, and we have some great press events on the horizon:
-- Tuesday, January 4, I'm doing an interview with musicfilmweb.com, a new site promoting music documentaries and they've taken a special interest in Blowfly and the fundraising campaign. I don't know when the interview will be posted online but I will send an update when I have the info.
-- Friday, January 7, at 7pm EST, Blowfly and I will be interviewed LIVE by irreverent music journalist Nardwuar on CITR radio (101.9 in Vancouver, also available online at citr.ca). The interview will then be rebroadcast on WFMU (91.1 in New Jersey, also available online at wfmu.org) on Wednesday, January 12, at 8pm EST.
In more new and exciting news -- so new I haven't even announced this on the blowflyfilm.com site -- "The Weird World of Blowfly" has been accepted to the Salem Film Festival! (March 4-10 in Salem, MA) It's a young festival that only screens documentaries but they've programmed some great films in their four-year history and I'm excited to participate. Please let me know if you'll be in the area and want to attend; as early adopters I'd be happy to comp you two passes to any one screening. And I'm hoping Blowfly himself will attend for a Q&A.
Thanks again, everyone! More updates to come.
