About this project

Dance meets Art meets Music

Califa Arts Collaborative is a community of artists united under a common goal:  the integration of various artistic disciplines into unique, accessible, and enriching performances.  We believe collaborations such as these can be instrumental in the cultivation of an artistic community that strengthens itself through interdisciplinary dialogue.  This dialogue allows artists to gain inspiration from other mediums as well as exposing diverse audiences to less familiar means of artistic expression.  Ultimately, Califa Arts Collaborative strives to be an organization through which local artists can connect and create, resulting in performances that are rich and relevant to the community.

This unique collaboration can be experienced through our four totally free shows: Saturday, June 11 (6pm & 9pm) and Sunday, June 12 (3pm & 6pm).  Donations are encouraged and graciously accepted.  The shows will be performed at Ballet Austin's Studio Theater, located in the heart of downtown Austin (501 W. 3rd. St., Austin, Tx 78701).

Art should be experienced by all and our free shows allow for complete accessibility to experience great art.  We rely soley on the generosity of our wonderful supporters and patrons.  All support is greatly appreciated, be it time, money, applause, etc, and all donations made will go right back into the shows/collaborations so we can continue to enrich our community and our artists.

If you have a desire to give in a form that is not included in this kickstarter page, please email us at supportus@califaarts.com.

I'm originally from Santa Cruz, California but I have been living and dancing in Austin for 8 years. I moved here to join the wonderful ballet company, Ballet Austin, as an apprentice member and after participating in that program for two years I joined the company in 2005. I was inspired to start Califa two years ago after realizing I had a strong desire to try to help unite the art world and make art more accessible to people in Austin. I am in no way alone with this passion. The artists in Austin are truly incredible, as are the audience members, and it has been truly inspiring watching this project come into fruition. I can't say thank you enough to all of those involved who have helped Califa grow and thrive! You are all amazing and I live in awe of who you all are.
