About this project

Seven months ago, I went back to my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio to make a motion picture about the aftermath of a young, affable black man's death and specifically the impact it had on a trio of his closest friends in the days before and after his funeral. We called it Pay to Park and through the collective generosity of our friends, acquaintances, family members and complete strangers my team and I were able to raise about a third of our $20,000 production budget for the film right here on Kickstarter. Now we're nearing completion of the film, which was shot in late August, early September and has been posting this fall in Queens, NY. Despite what was a remarkably smooth production given our aesthetic ambitions, financial constraints and lack of manpower, we must ask your help yet again.

Our production needs to raise more capital to finish the film properly. In order to get the film ready to play at elite film festivals, we must have the film professionally sound mixed, color corrected, and mastered to a proper screening format. Then, we must have enough money to submit it to festivals. Meanwhile, several of our equipment vendors and crew members, who unanimously provided gear or worked for little or nothing, must still be paid the significantly reduced rates they are owed. On top of all that, we must produce the gifts we've promised so many of our donors from our first (and now second) round of fundraising.

Included above is the trailer for our film, which we've decided to call Redlegs. For more information on the film, please visit the Redlegs Facebook Page. It's truly a labor of love, something myself and my collaborators have sacrificed greatly to bring to you. We look forward to the opportunity to share the entire piece with you very soon. Help make it a reality!

Sincerely,

Brandon Harris

Brooklyn, NY 12/6/10
