Haven Town is facing total annihilation at the hands (and teeth) of a horde of monsters from beyond the Shadowrift.
You the heroes must band together to drive them back. To do this, you will need powerful spells, skills, attacks and loot. When the game begins, you are a basic hero; you can explore and fight. Lucky for you, this is a deckbuilding game! You can buy new cards to add to your deck - cards which will define you as an adventurer and complement the strengths of your fellow heroes.
Unlike other deckbuilders, there is constant interaction with your fellow players, as you figure out who will gain which benefit from the limited supply of townsfolk, offer your coin to help construct walls, and seek healing from anyone who's learned such magic.
Shadowrift also features monsters that do not merely sit in play waiting to be slain - If you leave them alone they will rip Haven Town asunder. They'll kill people, break walls, and kick you heroes in the face. Combat with them is intuitive (though frequently painful).
For defeating a monster, heroes gain Heroism, a simple, consistent boost to their power that makes them better at anything they undertake. Since the monsters won't stop coming until the last Shadowrift is sealed or the town has been built into a mighty fortress, you'll need every boost you can take.
As you can see in the video, the prototype is bare-bones and focused on mechanics alone. However, the art we are acquiring is amazing and the finished product will be visually stunning. With your help we will be able to manufacture the game in the United States, promoting local industry.

In no particular order, the deadly fiends you might face in Shadowrift are:
The Glacien: Elemental creatures of pure cold, they creep toward town with the temerity of a glacier, slashing with icy claws or capturing the unwary in blocks of ice for later study by Lord Winter, their dispassionate despot.
The Cult of Mar'Zosé: A few of the people who just moved into town bear strange, shadowy tattoos. These cultists have no trouble clouding the villagers' minds to go unnoticed. The demons they summon to Haven Town are harder to miss, but also harder to fight.
Fire Dragons: The peaks north of town have spewed fire before, but this time the fire has wings and claws and teeth the size of swords. This time the fire has active malice. This time the fire craves flesh.
The Drow: Stony spirits from deep in the earth have risen to the surface, like the bubbling of a sulfur pit. They seem to consider humans an affront against nature, and the wizard's auguries tell you that they are building a powerful totemic device in their underground lair, one which will crack open the bedrock like an egg and split Haven Town asunder.
Storm Lords: From the sky have come wild revels, songs and beasts whose wingbeats bring lightning down. They seem to have no malice against Haven Town, but they refuse to leave and every moment they stay the winds and hail grow worse. Their laughter is thunder, and if they cannot be driven away this party will be Haven Town's last.
Necromancers: Strange, hooded figures have been seen on the edge of town, armed with butcher's knives and shovels. The guards have feared to approach them, and it hardly seemed worthwhile at first. After all, all they did was dig up a few graves...Now the guards know better, but now the hooded figures are not alone; They have ghouls and zombies to aid them.
