Hi. I'm Psalm Isadora.
I'm raising money to finalize my book Sex, Suffering & Freedom so it can be submitted to publishers. To make this happen, the book must be edited by a literary consultant. The fee for this service is $5,000. Your donation would fund this expense, which I believe is the last obstacle before this book is published.
I have spent the last five years writing the material that has become Sex, Suffering & Freedom. It has taken me a lifetime to live this story. The memoir chronicles my travels around the world to the brothels of India, Sundance ceremonies of South Dakota, the deserts of Southern California, my studies with a Sufi master in Istanbul, my solo pilgrimmage through Europe and to the thousand places of landscape, mind and spirit I have been in between.
Part of my work as a yoga teacher is sharing the practice of Tantra. This is a massively misunderstood topic in the west. Is sex involved, yes? Is it about a lot more than sex? Absolutely. Tantra is part of my story, as is sex, as are drugs, as is abuse, pain, suffering, my life as a teenage runaway and a young, unmarried mother, my challenging relationship with my son, and the abuse I experienced on the hippie commune I was raised on. This book is a chronicle of pain, joy and redemption told with honesty and good humor.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The most obvious foreseeable risk is that the book will not be picked up by a major publishing house after I complete the consultation that this Kickstarter project is funding. However, the book has already garnened interest from several well-known publishers, several of whom have compared it to some of the most successful and compelling novels of the last decade. Readying this book for completion with the help of a publishing professional will strengthen the chances of my book/story getting wide release.
The next possible challenge is the public response to the book. The content will likely shock some people. (I hope it does). It will probably make some people angry. (I hope it does). Ultimately, I believe it is an important and eye-opening story that I am proud to share with the world.
