Hello. My name is Cheryl Powe. I am a Teacher’s aide at Woodson elementary, a first time author and a mother of 2 children living in Chicago. I have recently written five children’s books of which the first one is entitled “The Adventures of the Humblebees (Mikey’s 1st lesson) I self-published the books meaning I submitted my manuscript to a self publishing company, they printed it and I have the responsibility of marketing, promoting and selling all books as oppose to a publishing company doing it for me.

The characters that are in my story are bumblebees and they are the heroes among children. Whenever the “Humblebees” hear about children in trouble or distress, they fly off to see how they can help.  All of the stories have lessons that children can learn from, to whether it is listening to their parents, teachers or under adult supervision.

I am submitting my project for the purpose of bringing exposure and attention to my books in hopes that I may find the right publishing company to publish with. With the help of donations I intend on pursuing publishers that would be able to devote the time and energy to help market and promote my book that it deservedly needs. I believe that it has the potential of not only becoming marketable; but in addition my books would benefit children throughout the country if not the world with the “Humblebee” stories of fun, life lessons and adventure!

I hope to provide a service to children through my project by showing and teaching them how to write stories out of their own imagination. I want to teach them how to put stories together along with encouraging that reading is fun-damental as well as educational and is proven to be essential when started at an early age.
