About this project

We're finishing our new movie PIG and you can help!  (Check out the above video for more information on the film).  With Kickstarter, you can join in and be a big part of making it all possible. Kickstarter makes it easy for you to learn about the project, keep track of its progress, contribute funds at the level you feel most comfortable, (receiving valuable rewards at the various levels), and pass the information along to other folks who might also want to contribute.

We have established a fundraising goal and have given ourselves a limited time to raise those funds.  With Kickstarter, it's all or nothing--if we don't raise ALL the money in time, we don't receive any of it.  So check out our video above, read more about everything below, visit our website, "Like" us on Facebook, and contribute to the project by clicking one of the buttons over here to the right.  If you have any questions, you can email us at:   thepigpicture@earthlink.net

Thank you for making Pig a reality!

About The Project

Pig is a self-financed narrative feature film written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Henry Barrial and produced by Mark Stolaroff.  Pig has been shot and edited and is nearing completion, on its way to premiering at film festivals around the world.  Pig is about a man who wakes up in the middle of the desert with a black hood on his head and his hands tied behind his back.  He doesn't know where he is, how he got there, and most importantly, who he is.  Pig is a mystery, a puzzle, a mind-game film, in the tradition of films like Memento  or Seconds.  It could also be classified as "indie sci-fi" or "lo-fi sci-fi".  You can learn more about the project here:  www.ThePigPicture.com

What The Funds Will Be Used For

Funds collected from Kickstarter will be used in two general ways:  to complete the film and to market it.

Completion includes:

  • Finishing the musical score and licensing one song
  • Finishing the sound design, sound editing and sound mix
  • Finishing picture elements like color correction, some visual effects, and titles
  • On-line editing and mastering

Marketing includes:

  • Building and maintaining a professional website
  • Designing and printing postcards, posters and other promotional materials
  • Film festival fees and expenses
  • DIY distribution and marketing strategies, including audience building, social media, and transmedia games

How Kickstarter Works

Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world.  Artists in a variety of disciplines use Kickstarter to raise money from energized patrons all over the world.  Rather than investing in risky projects, patrons donate funds in return for tangible and valuable rewards at different giving levels.  Rather than rely on a few investors to fund their projects with large investments, artists receive funds of varying levels from hundreds, even thousands of fans from all walks of life in any corner of the world, increasing the level of awareness for their projects.

Kickstarter is ALL OR NOTHING.  Artists set a fundraising goal and a fundraising deadline and if they don't raise the entire amount by that deadline, they do not receive any of the funds!

What Happens If We Don't Raise Our Goal?

Well, like we said, if we don't raise our goal, we go away empty-handed.  So, if we only raise $14,500 of our $15,000 goal, we don't get to keep any part of the $14,500.  Donors pledge the amounts, but don't actually pay until the goal is reached and the funding deadline has passed.

Can We Raise More Than Our Goal?

YES, we can.  There is no limit to the amount of funds we can raise and additional funds raised will be put to good use.  In today's new distribution environment for independent films, filmmakers can take an active role in distributing their films, which is incredibly empowering.  Additional funds raised will ensure that the film reaches audiences everywhere.

When Will You Receive Your Reward?

As soon as we reach our funding deadline and assuming we raise our goal, we will start getting rewards out to everyone.  Some will take longer than others because they will need to be created or ordered, but rest assured that everyone will get their rewards.

How Else Can You Help?

Pig is your film, too, so the most valuable thing you can do is Participate. "Like" our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter.  Join the conversations there and let us know what you think of the film or any of the rewards you received.  Spread the word--let your friends know about the film and this campaign.  Beyond forwarding our Kickstarter link to your friends who might enjoy being a part of something like this, let them know when the film will be playing in their towns.

This is what Kickstarter is all about.
