LOOK FOR THE GOOD News!

Update #13 · Jun 7, 2012 · comment

If you've been wondering what's happening to the Look for the Good Project, I have a lot of good news! In the last few months since the winter exhibition, I have been hard at work proposing a book, making videos, writing articles, and planning events that I'll be announcing throughout the summer. Here's the latest news:

I'm Making Videos

Here are a few for you to share. :-) Thank you to Johan Corilla for his video expertise and Trevor Giles his music in the first video. If you're having trouble with the embedded videos, try this:

The Artist Magazine is Featuring This Project

In the September issue, you'll be able to find a two-page spread about the project and learn how this evolved over a twelve-year period of growth and healing. Since the magazine is geared to professional artists around the country, we are inviting readers to participate and will be featuring some of the submissions in a follow-up article later in the fall. Hooray!!

Globe Pequot Press is Publishing a BOOK

After a lot of hard work getting a book proposal together, Globe Pequot Press has agreed to publish a book devoted entirely to the Look for the Good postcards. Imagine a full-color book over-flowing with glimmers of gladness from you, your friends, and people from all over the world! On the international list, we've got Australia, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Sweden, Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and more coming soon! If you'd like to participate - or know friends who'd like to be in the book - it's not too late. Just send your glimmer of gladness to What I'm Grateful For / PO Box 602 / Old Lyme, CT 06371 / USA and it'll be considered for the book (and don't forget to write your name on the front so I can acknowledge you).

I'm Taking the Project on the Road

Since one of the most inspiring parts about The Look for the Good Project is simply talking to people about it (they come up with the most amazing things!), I'm beginning to record informal interviews with the strangers I meet when I travel. Although I have a much bigger trip in mind later this year, I'll be conducting my first set of interviews this weekend while traveling up to Maine. To stay in the loop, please "like" the Look for the Good Project's page on Facebook or begin following the blog: lookforthegoodproject.org. I'll let you know when I'm ready to announce the bigger trip - but the basic idea is to drive across the country collecting interviews all along the way until I reach Sausalito, CA (the place where the inspiring whale rescue happened). Since I've peddled across the country on a bike, I know I can do this and think that a car will make it even easier. :-)

An Event to Clean-up the Beach and Your Mind

I've also been organizing Look for the Good events along the CT shoreline since February. The lastest is The Look for the Good Beach Clean-up at Hammonasset Beach State Park this Father’s Day. It’s a combined event with Meigs Point Nature Center Director, Russ Miller, and myself from 2 - 5 pm Sunday, June 17th, 2012 at the Meigs Point Nature Center. During the event, I’ll take you through the daring whale rescue that inspired this project and then Russ and I will lead a beach clean-up with a weigh-in of beach refuse back at the Nature Center. Not only will you have the chance to help out and be inspired, but you’ll be able to submit your story, photo, or postcard to be included in the book. If you're local, please come by pre-registering with Ranger Russ at 203-245-8743 or emailing rangermpnc@gmail.com (it's free by the way). For more info, click here. I'd LOVE to see you!

Finally...

I wanted to thank you -- from the bottom of my heart -- for backing this project and getting me started with all this. It has made such a difference in my life and is now rippling out in ways I'm just beginning to understand. There really are no words to describe the impact this has had on me. In one way or another, you have touched my heart profoundly. And for that I want to

thank you.

With Love and Gratitude,

Anne
