About this project

YOUR MONEY WILL BE SUPPORTING:

  • THE LOOK FOR THE GOOD PROJECT:  A community art project that is inspiring people around the world to look for the good in life. In just five weeks, I've received almost 200 gratitude postcards from 14 states (including Alaska), Germany, Australia... and have participation promises from Mexico, Taiwan, Panama, Russia, France, and Pakistan. Because this art project helps people focus on gratitude, people have told me that it's "the reason they get up in the morning." So... I must keep this going! Your money will help support the daily posting of gratitude cards on lookforthegoodproject.org as well as the upcoming exhibit this January...
  • THE "OPENING TO GOOD" EXHIBIT: Since the exhibit will be showcasing the Look for the Good cards in the context of the whale rescue story you just saw in the video, most of the Kickstarter money will be going towards printing costs of Graycie's Catch illustrations as well as playful cartoons that tell a whimsical story of opening to good. This traveling exhibit will start at the Custom House Maritime Museum in New London, CT this January 28th (you're welcome to come!). To see some of the illustrations that will be printed for the show just go here. In addition, your money will support an accompanying self-published book called, "Opening to Good: A Story about the Ocean, Grace, and Gratitude" which will be available for sale through Blurb.com.

WHY THIS PROJECT HAS VALUE

Yes, maybe things are tough… perhaps you’re not getting what you want… but there’s always something to be grateful for. This project helps you find it. Showcasing gratitude postcards from all over the world, the Look for the Good project inspires people to look for the good in their lives. Not only does this bring people together and break down barriers but, as evidenced by the 2005 whale rescue, it even unites SPECIES. This is why this project has value. It helps people shift their attention to peace, love, joy, beauty, humor, freedom, vitality, kindness, generosity, truth, wisdom, inspiration, creativity, and... gratitude. This is what unravels fear and pain and opens us up to GOOD - no matter what your circumstance.

WHY I'M THE RIGHT PERSON TO DO THIS

I have worked as a design consultant and illustrator on exhibitions before, including exhibits at Mystic Aquarium (check out the New England Lobstering exhibit), Smith College, and a local nature center. In addition, I am also working with some fabulous printers and consultants right now, including an internationally-known set designer (who taught me to paint by the way). So the Opening to Good exhibit is definitely going to be beautiful and engaging. All I need is a little more money to get this thing rolling!

WHY THE EXTRA FUNDING IS APPRECIATED

Although we just made the 100% mark (thank you so much!!), extra funding would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to enhance the experience at the opening by catering the event with healthy, eco-friendly food and including healthy living experts who might be able to share other good ideas for visitors to take home with them. As this all costs money, the extra money is really appreciated! Thank you!
