Story:

My name is Jacob Alexander Seedman, owner and founder of Shalom Cultural Peace Project, and welcome to my Kickstarter project. First off, I’d like to tell you a little bit about the vision behind Shalom Cultural Peace Project, a message driven lifestyle brand, devoted to spreading peace through timeless apparel. Deeply rooted in culture and fulfillment, Peace, Success, Tranquility, Comfort, Safety, Integrity, and Well Being are the 7 Elements chosen to portray a positive lifestyle. At Shalom CPP, we’re committed to promoting change by using the highest quality products, along with thought provoking designs. Our message is simple: Make peace not war! SHALOM!

Our current situation:

Shalom is currently funded by myself with very little money and certainly not enough to move forward. Shalom has orders for Spring 2012 for 5 accounts, which are currently being manufactured and set to ship on March 15th.  Shalom's Spring 2012 line has gotten a great response; we have a lot of momentum and tons of opportunity to grow, but we simply do not have enough funds to continue into Summer 2012.

Why Shalom CPP needs your money?

Shalom needs immediate funds to produce its “Summer of Peace” 2012 line! With the funds raised, we'll be able to develop and produce a full line for Summer 2012.

What we will be able to do with your money:

With your pledge we will be able to sample, and produce Shalom's “Summer of Peace” collection and continue to spread the company's positive message.  At Shalom CPP we do everything  possible to use environmentally friendly, water based inks and materials, to reduce Shalom's carbon footprint. Our Summer of Peace collection will be printed on super soft-combed ring spun cotton shirts, and will be printed in Alameda California. Over the years Shalom has formed several long standing relationships with vendors, and manufacturers worldwide, and with your pledge, we will be able to produce our line of tee shirts and hats, and be able to purchase the necessary labels and tags which are needed for branding the line. Any funds raised beyond our goal will go towards finishing our website and adding more designs. Below is the immediate projected budget:

Our Summer of Peace 2012 Collection:

The Summer 2012 designs include 8 graphic tees, 1 short sleeve woven shirt, and 3 custom made hats, which are 100%, made in the USA. And don’t forget the limited edition Summer of Peace graphic made just for you!

What we have done so far?

Since the brand was started, we have done quite a bit, but due to lack of funding, and major setbacks, we are essentially starting fresh. We still have the same vision and message, and we have a devoted and respected following, which has grown over the years. In addition, we have tons of connections to manufacture and endless industry experience. We have done tradeshows and have countless connections to retailers.  We have been featured in several magazines and have had several interviews.  Here’s a link to a recent one on Soletron,  We have also collaborated on several projects with some major brands like Diamond Supply Co. ,The Hundreds, and HUF.  We have an online store www.shalomcpp.com, which generates some sells, in addition to five retailers, which do well with the line.  Trucker Deluxe is our newest account.  Our goal for Summer 2012 is to increase Shalom's brand presence in our current shops, get more brand presence on blogs, and other social media sites, as well as increase our number of retail accounts. Your pledge will push us in this direction.

What does the word Shalom mean?

Shalom, simply put means peace. It is also used as a common greeting in the Hebrew language as hello or goodbye.

Is SHALOM CPP meant only for the Jewish consumer?

Not at all! Shalom Cultural Peace Project simply has one goal: to spread the message of peace through apparel and other products. We chose the word Shalom for it’s deep meaning and cultural diversity.

Why Kickstarter is right for us?

I had the idea of doing a fundraiser because it’s been very hard to get enough funds to produce each season. Then I saw a post on my friends instagram, which read “back my project on Kickstarter”, so I jumped and couldn’t believe there was actually a cool way to raise money for our next season!  I checked out the Kickstarter site, and was amazed at how so many creative people like myself have come together to help people's dreams and goals come to life!  So, I joined up, backed my friend's project, and set out to create my own.

What are the risks for you, and how Kickstarter Works?

Absolutely none!  Running and maintaining a clothing line takes a lot of money, so there is definitely a need for increased funding, however Kickstarter has an all or nothing funding model.  The reason is they want us to budget out our project as accurately as possible and be realistic.  With out the right amount of money we really can’t move forward in the right way!  So, we have to hit our goal or we do not get any funds.  We can go over our goal, but not under by even a penny!   The more funds we raise over our goal, the quicker we will be able to add more products for all of you to choose from.  And, we have to hit our goal by the specific date or we don’t get the funding. If we hit our goal, you get some amazing clothing and help grow a positive business! But, if we don't, you don't get charged.  I’d say that’s win-win for everyone. Furthermore, your card will NOT be charged until funding is completed-on or around May1st. 2012

What are the rewards?

We have set up many different pledge options so you can contribute comfortably and be rewarded well at any level of contribution.  By pledging through Kickstarter, we promise that you will be Shalom's first shipment recipients once production is finished. If you pledge now, you are also securing these prices, and free shipping to anywhere in the USA. Our prices may increase after Kickstarter ends. 

Please also keep in mind that we pay an 8% administration fee on any and all funds we raise through Kickstarter, so offering the higher price points will help to cover that cost. Thanks for your support and understanding!
