About this project

My name is Vonetta Berry and I am a bodyartist in Houston, Texas. My art project is called We Are One. It is a photographic, bodyart exploration in harmoniously balancing ones life with the natural world. I have created the photographic images, with assistance by a grant from the Houston Artist Alliance, however there are remaining funds that need to be secured to present the project in the public arena of M Squared Gallery in Houston, Texas, February 6, 2010. This page is to create an avenue of micro-actions to kick start the backers into achieving their goals of ecologically balanced lives.

We Are One features semi-nude models camouflaged or painted into different natural environments throughout the Houston or surrounding area. The exhibit and corresponding images are purposed to engage the viewers to contemplate their abilities to unite with nature. The multimedia nature of the exhibit will create a multi-sensory effect on the audience and hopefully encourage them to be engaged in questioning: How does one become one with his or her environment? What are the steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint? How can I be GREEN?

Communing with nature is a sacred privilege afforded to us by Mother Nature. It is my intention to create a visual space to allow the viewer to commune as the model is.
