Hello, my name is Michael B.Clark and I am one of the lucky few who can tell you the exact day I knew what I wanted to be. May 25th 1977, I was 12 years old, I knew I wanted to be a filmmaker. But as all stories go, my life had some twists and turns and there was no straight line from point A to point B. My mother had an aneurysm when I was 14 and that threw the family into a spin for many years. My hormones pretty much ran my life for the next 10 years and by 30 I was married with kids, had a mortgage and ran a painting company to pay the bills. Through the years that 12 year old still lived deep inside me and I dabbled in short films and wrote many unfinished screenplays, but this was always a hobby. Then 2 years ago something interesting happened to me and my family disguised as a disaster, the great recession. This " economic slowdown" dwindled our savings as well as paying painting customers. We lost our home to foreclosure and were pretty much in the poor house. You can take everything away from a person except his dreams.
I took this chance to finally do what I said I would do 30 years earlier. I dusted off my old screenplays and started to write some new ones. I found out as a painting contractor I was a decent screenplay writer. I optioned one my scripts to be a feature film and have had interest in some other projects of I have been working on.
The project SIDE EFFECTS is a story that has been kicking around since my early days and is a very personal film for me. For me to make this short is for me to finally realize my 33 year old dream of becoming a filmmaker. Help me show everyone that it is really never to late to change your life and it is never to late to live your dreams.
Side Effects is a 14 page screenplay that follows research scientist Dr. Patrick Darby as he explores the darkest recesses of his own discovery. This short is very much in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Outer limits.
The budget for this project is mere $2800.00 for but I am only asking for 75% or $2100.00. If the people here on Kickstarter can help me raise that I will sell off $700 worth of my prized toy collection that I started collecting in 1977 to raise the rest.
