Hello, My name is Han Ly Hwang and I used to have a small food cart in Portland OR called Kim Jong Grillin. We served Korean BBQ as well as a few other Korean dishes. In 2011 we won the the prestigious Judges choice award for food cart of the year at the Eat Mobil food cart event. I loved serving Korean food and educating the customers about Korean culture. All my hard work had paid off. Unfortunately on the same night the cart caught fire and burned due circumstances beyond my control. After the accident I decided to take the jump and go for it. I decided to open a brick and mortar location.
This project has been a long difficult road. Complications and pitfalls were around every corner. We had a lot of issues with permitting. After a seven month long hold up with the city over building permits we had to re-design everything and start building from a new set of plans. While we were in this phase of the build out, we also had a committed investor that could no longer stay with the project. All the while we have been determined to move forward. We owe it to all our faithful regulars, and everyone who has been waiting for us. We have had so much support from the food community, we owe it to you all to open.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We still have huge risks and challenges as any other restaurant. Even though we were a very popular food cart, we did not have the chance to grow our fan base. Upon opening our doors the biggest challenge is getting people to come back.
Our food has always spoken for it self and we plan on keeping that way. At the cart a lot of people came back because I was present to answer all the questions, comments and critiques. I have always been a hands on chef and that is not going to change.
