About this project
The Numuan is Numu Arts Collective's newest venue for sharing the work of the artists in our community-- an annually published journal of writing, art and music. Though our first issue will comprise mostly of the work of Numu's members, upcoming editions will be inhabited by other talented and underexposed artists. Each publication will include a free download card that will feature music tracks from Numu musicians and spoken word recordings.
Each issue will be centered around a specific and interpretable theme. In honor of this being our first issue, the theme is “Birth”. The publication's aesthetic and quality of work will rival those of well-established journals, but it will break new ground, we feel, in the cooperative interplay of literary and visual depictions.
The medium of print publication is rapidly becoming vintage, and we look to support this cherished form of art with The Numuan. Printing is expensive, and the money raised on Kickstarter will be used to create a high-quality publication that will properly showcase the talent of our community and keep this medium alive!
Our community of talented and devoted artists have also donated great prizes for this Kickstarter page-- original artwork, handmade jewelry, and much, much more! We want to thank our artists for their generosity to this project and hope you'll become part of our ever-expanding community by showing your support for this project!

It contains a series of polaroids created by the author by means of experimenting with a set of new polaroid photo films, light and puncturing techniques to create plant like shapes and colors.

Connected as Numu Arts (702 friends)
Numu Arts Collective is a Brooklyn-based multi-media community of artists dedicated to creating and exposing high-quality, innovative work in New York City. Our name derives from the Arabic word for "growth," and part of our mission is to encourage artistic progression through regular workshopping and collaboration, while creating our own artistic opportunities to showcase our work. As a collective we curate and produce gallery shows, music events, readings by writers of many styles and genres, and good-ol' creative parties.
