Award-winning filmmaker Steven Scaffidi and his 24 year-old son, who will assist him in making this film, take a Pilgrimage along with forty-seven youths as they go on a 10 day journey to Medjugorje and document the effects this sacred land has on their lives. This unique story will be told through the eyes of the filmmaker as he goes on a discovery to understand the mystery of Medjugorje and the remarkable effects this famous place has had on so many people from all over the world. This documentary will be distributed worldwide to evidence the powerful effect of the "call of Our Lady" on the young people of America.

NEW ORLEANS, LA - MAY 24, 2011 -  Within days of when Hurricane Mitch devastated Honduras, he assembled a film crew, made his way through the impassable countryside, immersed himself among the people of that country and, at his own expense, ultimately told their tale of faith and determination to the world.  The resulting film, The People’s Story, was an Academy Award finalist.
 
In 2006, he took on a cause closer to his own home and heart.  With a determination to give a voice to those suffering and largely neglected in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, he got a FEMA trailer, recruited a local hero from Chalmette and traveled to Washington, D.C.- where, against all odds, president George W. Bush welcomed the Louisianans with open arms.  Six years later, Forgotten On The Bayou still plays on national and local TV stations as a poignant testimony to the human spirit in the midst of the unprecedented natural disaster.
 
This Sunday, New Orleans native Steve Scaffidi, joined by his son, will turn his camera toward a new horizon point- one where belief meets doubt in the mind of man.  The Journey is a documentary that will chronicle the impact that a 10 day trip has on modern –day pilgrims traveling to Medjugorje in search of God and His Mother.  Without expectations, but with an open mind, Scaffidi will tackle topics that many shy away from- challenging and questioning his own beliefs along the way.  The project aspires to be an honest study of how the power of faith can change the soul. 
 
With filming already underway, Scaffidi is beginning interviews with The Journey’s participants- who range the spectrum from devout believers to those who have personal doubts about what God’s role is in their lives.

Steven Scaffidi is an award-winning filmmaker who has written, produced, and directed many documentary and feature films for television and the big screen. With over 25 years of experience, Steven’s films have won awards at many top international film festivals including New York, Telluride, Houston, and Rome. He’s also the recipient of the prestigious Humanitarian Vision Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival and was a Finalist in the Academy Awards. Steven has unique flair for story-telling and is a prolific writer having written more than 10 original screenplays and television scripts over the past few years. His films have been invited to screen at some of the most acclaimed universities in the world including UCLA, Central Washington and Tulane University in the USA, and The University of Cambridge, Sussix University and Kings College of London in the UK. Steven is also a published author and he’s the Writer/Producer of one of the most successful plays in the history of Louisiana local theater having drawn a crowd of close to 5,000 people on opening weekend for his original play “Ain’t Dat Super!”. His documentary film “Forgotten on the Bayou” recently premiered in prime-time on national television and he has created television shows that have been syndicated across America and seen around the world.
