UPDATE 5/5/2012:

WE DID IT!!!!!!!! Thank you all so so very much for your generous support for our project! We are both thrilled and humbled that we were able to make our goal in only 15 days, and we've been blown away by the support we've received, both from Kickstarter and from our fans.

Now, it's time to keep it going! We have 15 more days to raise as many extra funds as possible, and every extra dollar we receive gets us closer to ultimate goal: our book taking over the world! There are so many things we'd like to do with the book, this is what your additional pledge will go towards:

-Supporting our artists to take the anthology to book fairs, literary festivals, and so forth around the country.
-Creating a video "trailer" for the anthology to post on our website, helping us to get folks excited about it so we can sell more and more copies of it.
-Make our book release party the coolest book release party you'll ever be invited to!
-Start saving funds for a second anthology, so we can share even more awesome stories with the world!

It's time for a 2nd Story book, and we need your help!

What is 2nd Story, you ask? 2nd Story is a storytelling collective in Chicago that creates performance events that combine storytelling, music, and conversation. A typical 2nd Story evening goes something like this: you hang out with your friends in a local bar or restaurant and eat and drink and make merry. Three to five times during the night, the lights go down, a spotlight comes up on somebody - maybe the person sitting next to you!- and they tell you a story. It's a great time, and if we do our job right, you'll leave telling your own stories.

We've been telling stories in Chicago for the past 13 years, and now we want to share those stories with a wider audience. But we can't do it without your help. Publishing costs are high, and as a small non-profit arts organization, we don't have a lot of extra cash lying around.

This is where Kickstarter comes in. We are raising funds for the publication of this book. We need your support, it means so much to us!

How do I help? On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a list of suggested contribution levels. With each of these levels comes a unique gift from 2nd Story. To contribute, click on the contribution level that feels right, and enter your information securely through Amazon. Your payment will post when we reach our goal. If we don’t reach that goal, your account won't be charged.

Where will the funds go? There are a lot of costs around publishing. Most of the funds will go towards the publishers fee, with a little left over to go towards a Launch Party and expenses covering shipping and gifts for our Kickstarter contributors.  If we raise extra money, we will put it towards a book tour!

We have a publisher (Elephant Rock). We have a launch date (November 5, 2012). We have excitement, energy, and enthusiasm. What we need is your support.
