Update #13: A Future Project
Greetings everyone!
Some of you may have heard about a new project we're working on with Double Fine Productions! A Kickstarter was launched for it the other day, and it raised like over a million dollars in it's first 24 hours and smashed every record on Kickstarter. As of this writing it's sitting at close to 1.5 million dollars with 32 days still left in the funding window. Exciting!
You may remember that in July of 2011 we stopped by Double Fine Productions during our travels for the Minecraft film and talked with industry legend Tim Schafer. Tim shared with us his take on Minecraft's success and what it meant to the games industry as a whole. After the interview we got to talking about Kickstarter and how we had launched our documentary project. Double Fine seemed to think a Kickstarter could work for them in some capacity...

Here we are with the man of the hour. Tim's the one in the middle. Not the one driving the soapbox car.
Flash forward to early November of 2011. We're still in the process of working on the Minecraft film but it's getting to be around that time that we need to think of what is going to come after it. So when we thought about what we would really enjoy doing next our thoughts went back to that meeting with Double Fine. We reached out to them, and after a few months of planning, here we are. The most successful Kickstarter project ever (right out the gate) and showing no signs of stopping.
So you might be wondering how this will impact the Minecraft project, and well, it won't! The Minecraft doc is nearing the final stages of production. We already have 90 minutes of the film edited and we're making one more trip to Sweden for the epilogue of the film. The production of the rewards is coming along, with the Creeper toys almost complete we should have something of them to show you very soon. The pig bank is being modeled and prepped for production (with a new snout!), we have a blacksmith to make the plaques, and the posters submissions will be up soon as well.

This is what 90 minutes of movie looks like.
We'll have another update as soon as the Creepers arrive, along with the plans we have for the extras (yes, we have extras).
Thanks again to everyone for all of your support! As always, if you have questions or comments just contact us here though Kickstarter and we'll try to get back to you as soon as we can.
