A comedy about two sanitation workers and their run-in with Chinese gangs, white supremacists, and an all-knowing, transgendered man.
The Film Guild is an army of ambitious independent filmmakers at Middle Tennessee State University who are determined to make our first feature film, Juicy Mooshu. Just outside of Nashville, we've been making dozens of short films over the past few years, and we've finally found a feature that we love enough to dedicate the time, sweat, and money needed to make it amazing.
We've been in pre-production for the last nine months, writing, re-writing, creating shot lists, storyboarding, calling in favors, gathering crew members, and raising money from private investors, and we're finally coming down to the final stretch before we enter production. We have the motivation, the story, the vision, the experience, and the ability, but we still lack a large chunk of the budget.
We want this project to shine; we want it to get the attention that it deserves, and in order to do that, we need your help! Every penny that you donate will be used to make our vision come to life, and we're extremely confident that you'll like the outcome.
The film is an action-comedy about two sanitation workers in their mid-twenties, David and Weston. While they're cleaning out the house of a hoarder, they're drawn to a mysterious, ancient Chinese chest. Before too long, they've been attacked by a prostitute who shows up at the hoarder's house by mistake, they're on the run from a Chinese mob group, and they have to use all of their resources to make it out alive. Along the way, they encounter a suburban princess drug dealer, an independent Neighborhood-Watch vigilante, a group of white supremacist militiamen, and a transgendered man who holds the keys to their future. All the while, David and Weston can't agree upon what to do with the chest – Weston wants to hand it over to the police, but David wants to cash in on it, making their fortune while they can. What's next? And what's so special about this chest, anyway? Even more, will they make it out alive?
Warren Smythe has worked on over fifty shoots, primarily as the director or director of photography. Juicy Mooshu is his second feature, though it's his largest endeavor to date. His first, a 63-minute thriller called Sound of Dogs, was made for $35 when he was eighteen. (Juicy Mooshu will run at about 90 minutes after its completion.) Now, four years later, Warren has been able to fine-tune his directing chops, honing in on his own, unique style.
For a sample of Warren's work, here's a teaser trailer for a film of his that's currently in development.
The Neither Here Nor There teaser was also produced by the Film Guild, and it will share many of the same crew members. (This is also a great sample of Jimmy Sudekum, Juicy's composer, working side by side with Warren). Just wanted to let you know that the film is in creative, capable hands.

To help us out, just click the green "BACK THIS PROJECT" button at the top-right of the page!
If we reach our goal, you'll be charged the amount you pledged, and you'll get all of the cool stuff that you qualify for listed on the right side of the page! We'll give you more info on that once it happens.
If we don't reach our goal, no money changes hands and we'll have a much harder time making this film. We'll go our separate ways, and hopefully you'll see more from us soon. Let's not let that happen!
If we exceed the goal, that's just icing on the cake! We want this film to be as great as we know it can be, and every penny (minus the Kickstarter fees) will go directly towards making it happen as elaborately as possible.
With our current schedule, we'll be shooting over a 19-day period throughout May and June.
If you have any questions, let me know! I'm excited to tell you whatever you want about the project. It's been a huge part of my life – and the lives of numerous others – for the last nine months, and I'm happy to let you in on our vision.
Thank you all so much for your support. Let's make this happen!
Here are some posters by Alex Cline. Enjoy!
