Southern Rising is a unique table-top RPG that pits modern society against undead soldiers of the Confederacy.
Southern Rising is a roleplaying game in which players take on the roles of average citizens (businessmen, school teachers, public servants, police officers, and/or soldiers) trying to stop the rising of the confederacy by any means necessary.
Set in 2011 the game allows modern player characters to take on undead soldiers of the Confederacy, making this a mash-up of genres. It is a skill-based table-top RPG which begs the question, "What if the South did rise again - as UNDEAD!
But wait there's more - Southern Rising is not the typical skill-based role playing game. it has a unique twist.
It is three games in one!
Historical - Players and Gamemasters can play a strictly historical game set in the 1860's. Have you every wondered what it would be like to be Robert E. Lee on the morning of the pivotal battle of Gettysburg? Would you have made the same moves as Lincoln? Would you have been like a "Stonewall" at the Battle of Bull Run? The Southern Rising RPG allows you to role-play any historical battle of the American Civil War. The game includes weapons and equipment, stats for historical figures and description of locales.
Alternate History - Players and gamemasters can play a historical/supernatural campaign. What really happened at Vicksburg? Did the undead cause Sherman to develop his famed scorched-earth policy? Were Lincoln's conspirators really monster hunters? And what was Lincoln? The Southern Rising RPG contains an army full of monsters to incorporate into your historical campaign. Necromatic magic? Yea we got that too!
Modern Horror - This is the default setting for Southern Rising. The year is 2011 and the South is rising as undead! It's up to the player characters to stop the south before they change the United States for good. The game contains monsters and monster templates to run Civil War soldiers and leaders. You can make George Pickett a zombie, Jeb Stuart a ghoul, Stonewall Jackson a wraith, James Longstreet a ghost or Robert E. Lee a vampire or maybe an immortal Lich. The choice is up to you! There are over 20 possible combinations! The modern campaign also has an armory of modern weapons to dispose of the beasties. Never bring a musket to a fight with an M16.
Bonus Goals
