Jalapeño's, habanero, chili de arbol, and cayenne peppers lovingly grown, dried, and blended together for pure tasty pleasure.

When my dad retired, he and my mom moved out to Oklahoma. "Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain and the waving wheat sure smells sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain. OOOOOOKlahoma!"

So, my dad did what any transplanted Californian does when they move to Oklahoma, he started a farm. The only thing that he could really grow were peppers. They grew and they grew and they grew.

About this time, one of my wife's colleagues expressed his frustration in not being able to find dried, ground  jalapeño. Well, as it turned out, dad had some. So he shipped it out and we passed it on to the coworker. Word got around, more people wanted to try it, so dad sent more pepper out, I blended it, and that was that.

We have no idea what this will become, if it "becomes" anything at all.Our goal is to see 300 of Blanton's Pepper bottles sold and then continue onto the big time. We know people enjoy our hand-ground peppers already, since our friends keep clamoring for more. Many are snapping up the stock as soon as we bottle it, but we'd love to grow the company and share it with everyone. Who knows, maybe we'll be on the shelves of Whole Foods and Trader Joes in the future!

Our pepper is a mix of a wide variety of different peppers, each chosen for their unique taste and flavor. Each bottle is a two fluid ounce bottle and sits nicely on your table top.

The pepper is MSG free, has no sodium, it's homegrown, shoot, it's even Vegan friendly. It's AWESOME on pizza, your popcorn will POP, and no one will ever forget your mashed potatoes again.  You're not going to find anything that isn't a little better because of Blanton's.

While we don't celebrate the heat of our pepper, don't think for a second that it doesn't register on the scoville heat scale. As my brother-in-law says it's "saca-tu-moco" hot.

FAQ

  • While we don't have a Scovill rating as of yet, I can say without hesitation that our pepper is hot.

  • When the peppers are ready they are picked and prepped for the drying. We cut the peppers into quarters and expose them to the sun for a day or so (and no, we don't remove the seeds in this process, the seeds are the best part!) Once the sun has done it's job, we slowly cook them over a very low heat (again, seeds included). Once they are completely dried, that's when they are ground and bottled.

  • Our pepper is not a salsa or a sauce. It's raw pepper, ground up.

  • The first shipment will be sent out around June 25th. (Assuming our Kickstarter campaign is successful.) If you purchase the $25 package or the $150 package, we'll be mailing out the second round of pepper the 10 of September and December.

  • Yes, we are going to try some additional blends in the future. We're working on a "milder" blend and an even hotter blend as we speak. People have also suggested that we explore a "rub" or a sauce. We'll explore the rub idea, but there are plenty of other great sauces and salsas that are out there. Check out the recently successful Elixirs of Pain (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/714810375/elixirs-of-pain?ref=live) for some great sounding sauces. When it comes to the flavor being consistent, in all honesty it's doubtful. Each blend will remain consistent from bottle to bottle and year to year, but the flavor of the peppers are dependent on any number of variables. We'll grow them the best we can, using the best we can get, grinding them with the love that we have, and pray it's as good as it's ever been.
