Jason, a documentary filmmaker, searches for a cult leader claiming to be an angel sent by God.

PROBLEM OF EVIL is a faux documentary/dramatic feature. It takes on the guise of a 'found footage' film, while blurring the line with a traditional feature narrative. On a last minute job, Jason, a documentary filmmaker, encounters a cult member with inexplicable knowledge of his past. Bent on exposing this cult group and their leader as a fraud, Jason descends down a rabbit hole of doubt, distress, and ultimately paranoia, as he seeks to find answers. His loss of love, his loss of faith and the path to redemption is Jason's journey.
On some low-budget sets, they have what is called a 'skeleton crew,' which is defined as: the minimum number of personnel needed to operate and maintain an item at its most simple operating requirements, and to keep vital functions operating. For us, the filmmakers (Ethan Kogan and Jessica Silvetti) we only had each other.
THIS FILM WAS SHOT ENTIRELY ON A CANON T2i/550D DSLR (an $800 camera). We built our own support equipment to save money, including a custom shoulder rig, designed to achieve that documentary look featured in the film. No lights were purchased as it was a conscious decision to shoot all the scenes in natural and available light at each location. We built (yes, built from scratch) a PC based editing bay to utilize an Avid NLE to edit the film, enrolled in online courses and taught ourselves the ins and outs of the system.
In the film, we find documentary filmmaker, Jason, at an impasse in his life. Likewise, we, the filmmakers, are at an impasse ourselves: we need finishing funds to complete our feature film.
Currently the film is 'picture locked' and the music is almost finished.
But all this is for naught unless the movie sounds good. And for that, we need a professional Sound Mixer to balance the levels, add ambiance, sound effects and bundle that into a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix.
We need to pay the actors who made this film what it is. It truly stands on the shoulders of their tremendously layered and nuanced performances.
A finished film is not good unless the story can be told to others. This is why we need funds to submit to major international film festivals in the United States, UK, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
