About this project

THE FILM
AFTERLIFE - A Journey into the Light is a story based on true events. This insightful film gently touches the human spirit and encourages the power of overcoming life's physical, spiritual, and emotional trials and shows us that there are things in life worth fighting for. This film was made simply because we strongly believe in the value of the human spirit. With so many people struggling today, a message of taking on incredible odds and believing in the ability to overcome is essential to our well being. Although the story is one of unique adventures, the relate-ability with the viewer could not be any closer. The core of this unexpected film touches upon the three main categories of human challenges that arise in each of our lives; at the spiritual, emotional, and physical level.
The story is seen through the eyes of the protagonist in a heartfelt narrative, reflecting back on his own life which is filled with extraordinary adventures. Each of the film's three chapters offers its own distinctive flair. The journey takes the viewer from the epic panoramic views of the Grand Canyon, through powerful fight scenes with renowned martial arts experts, and into the unthinkable events that lead to the film's astounding outcome from which the film's namesake "Afterlife" is appropriately pointed toward. “Afterlife” is a vastly entertaining experience that offers a deep rooted, insightful message pointing toward the meaning of life. Our goal with this film is to show people that, through embracing hope, we can overcome all of life’s trials and we should never give up, no matter what the odds. This compelling film is a MUST SEE and shows us that there are things in life worth fighting for; --- OUR DESTINY is one of them!

PROGRESS

We have spent all of 2008 in production and 2009 was designated for post production. After overcoming some large hurdles, and enjoying great progress, Director Walter Schmidt felt this project could benefit greatly from revamping various scenes plus restructuring events. We are very much dedicated to produce a high quality film, thus we are back in production and post production until Spring 2011.

WHERE YOUR DONATION WILL GO
Our main Camera, a professional Sony XDCAM EX-1 broke. We need to fix the main board, costing a few thousand dollars and if possible, would like to purchase a second camera. It is a risky undertaking, having to travel to a major shoot location with only one camera and no back-up camera available. It broke once, it can break again!
We plan on re-shooting at the Grand Canyon, Arizona plus in Washington, at the Bavarian Village Leavenworth. Shooting on these locations is expensive! Travel cost for cast and crew, plus maintaining equipment is always a pressing financial burden.
Going back into post production… from experience we know all too well about the growing financial burden through computer hardware failures and the arising need to purchase software and hardware necessary to complete this project.

To sum it up, all monies will be used towards the completion cost of AFTERLIFE.
