About this project

The Union Electric is recording a new 7" record.

Eventually, the band may compile its releases onto a CD but for now we are promoting the tangible art of the vinyl 7" while also making our releases available digitally. We have collaborated with Saint Louis artists Dana Smith and Sleepy Kitty to design covers for our two previous records and hope to continue this output of quality packaging while releasing a few songs at a time.

--------------------------------------------------

The Union Electric was formed in Saint Louis, MO and played its first show in 2009. Tim Rakel, who also plays in The May Day Orchestra, brought songs to the group from his former band, Bad Folk, as well as new material. The line-up also includes lead guitarist Glenn Burleigh, bassist Melinda Cooper, and drummer Mic Boshans. The group has been joined on past recordings by noteworthy Saint Louis musicians Beth Bombara and Kevin Buckley.

Beth Bombara and her husband, Kit Hamon, will be engineering the recording session for this project. "Tunnels", the working title of the band's new A-side, is one of Rakel's newest songs and the band is excited by the prospect of releasing it as a single. Your support will help produce the record, so that the band can take it on the road with them this spring.

Dave Anderson, a member of the May Day Orchestra and lead guitarist for Tenement Ruth, will appear as a guest musician on the new single. Other songs from the band's repertoire will also be recorded during the session. All recorded tracks will be available for download through this project and one will be pressed on vinyl as the B-side. Rewards include the vinyl and/or download versions.

Thanks for any amount of financial support you can give us. Feel free to contact Tim Rakel with any questions at the e-mail address below.

Projected expenses include:
Recording by Beth Bombara and Kit Hamon
Mastering by Carl Saff
