About this project
Booty Trove is an aptly-named brass band from New Orleans that started a short six months ago. From performing with brass band innovators the Soul Rebels for their second show, playing at the first ever Foburg Festival, and establishing a residency at the Wolf’s Den every Wednesday night, Booty Trove has been making some noise in the local scene and building a solid fan base ever since day one.
Continuing on the strong note on which Booty Trove began, a new opportunity has arisen, one that is simply too good to pass up. At a recent Tipitina’s gig, a good friend who was visiting from France offered the band the opportunity of a lifetime: to stay, play, and record in the French city of Caen for simply the price of airfare. Again, an opportunity too good to pass up.
While there the band will have the privilege of playing with our host's band "Dar'K" for their CD Release show in his hometown of Caen, France for a sold out crowd of 1,600. In addition, the band will be doing a short tour de France (4-5 other shows) including Cafe De La Mer along the beautiful Normandy shore and this does not include impromptu street performances. Pairing this with the opportunity to be able to spend a few days in the studio recording some original material, the opportunity shines as the brightest moment in the history of Booty Trove and that doesn’t include the amount of site seeing the individual band members will experience themselves.
A 6 month old brass band from New Orleans traveling across the Atlantic Ocean is an amazing opportunity, but at the same time is no easy feat, even with free lodging/food. Already having procured $2500 and putting all monies from the weekly residency at the Wolf’s Den towards plane tickets and traveling funds, the band is already well on its way to covering a majority of the expenses. However, more help is needed. Another $1500 would guarantee that all expenses would be covered and relieve the stress of the individual band members to cover expenses.
