About this project
After putting up five Mark Jenkins inspired yarn bomb flowers, I realized I wanted to do more!
This project is ramping it up just a bit. 100 flowers across Clairemont, put up over a week. My community is somewhat bland, with few examples of public art. We hope to change that with this beautification effort.
If necessary I will knit most of the material myself, but I know a few other knitters I will get involved. If you are a local knitter who wants to help, please message me The stem is very easy to knit, suitable for a beginner.
I also have several others who will help with the installation.
UPDATE: Thank you to all the knitters who have contacted me with offers to help! (There is still a lot of room for more!) Now we need to get the yarn! If you don't knit, and want to see this happen, please back the project. Sponsor your own pole in Clairemont, and we will be able to do 3 others.
Once funded, the money will be used to buy material (yarn is the biggest expense at almost $900, wire, needles) and we will furiously knit the leaves, stems, and rewards required.
The $1,200 will just about cover the materials, fees, and rewards. The knitters and assemblers will be volunteering their time. If you are in San Diego, and would like to help, please send a message.
After all of the pieces are created we will carve the community up, set our teams, and begin a week of "planting".

I have lived in Clairemont for over 30 years, the last 4 knitting. I am always looking for ways to be creative and share, and turn my craft into art.
