TrashCanKidz is a tablet and web based online game that empowers children through play to make a difference in the world they live in. Inspired by the real life hardships faced by millions of children globally, the TrashCanKidz game transports players to The Forgotten World where it will take nurturing, commitment, and action (through fun game play) to transform this world into one where the TrashCanKidz can thrive and find happiness. 

The adventure begins when players visit the game to adopt a virtual, customizable TrashCanKid which players are tasked to take care of within The Forgotten World. Players can choose to play for free, or pay for a premium game account that unlocks more levels of play and offers them more items for customization.

The Forgotten World is divided into separate locations, such as Shack Town and Pebble Square, representative of real life, under-resourced regions in the world where orphaned children are left to fend for themselves. Each location has a primary quest and sets of mini-games that players need to complete in order to progress to the next location; and each challenge mirrors a real life action that would contribute to a better living environment for children. For example, players must scoop up litter and wash away graffiti, or clean up and rebuild the water supply to ensure fresh drinking water. As children play, they can watch how overcoming environmental challenges contributes to the health and happiness of their TrashCanKid, and the more challenges they complete, the more game rewards they unlock!

As a commercial venture with a social conscience, we believe online gaming can assist the empowerment of children to affect change in real life. With your help, we hope to make this virtual environment a reality where one day soon, gameplay and doll purchases directly impact real charities and enable children to see their efforts materialize in the real world.

Trading Cards

We have designed a unique trading card game with more than 150 different cards to collect, including foiled and super rare holographic cards.

KickStarter backers will receive a prototype of the Starter Pack (for 2 players) as well as a unique foiled KickStarter mischief card. This card is for backers only and will never be reprinted.

Dolls

TrashCanKidz don’t only live online; they come to life in the form of a physical plush doll that arrives with a story and trashcan backpack. These intricately crafted dolls give children something more physical they can play and interact with, and reminds them that TrashCanKidz aren’t only avatars in a game; they’re real world children that need their help to survive.

We have already created the first five TrashCanKidz dolls (based on the online characters) and with additional funding we plan to create more of these adorable dolls. 15 new TrashCanKidz have been designed and are just waiting to be manufactured.

Creating an online game with a dual mission - to inform AND entertain - means there is twice as much work to do. The game thus far has been built on a solid foundation with an expandable game engine and a powerful database, but there is still a lot of work to be done with regards to developing content, simplifying playability, and increasing stickiness, all the while making sure education and empowerment results from every action.

With the funding from KickStarter, the game can expand from the existing foundation to enhance multiplayer functionality, allow for more characters and character customization, and include more (and richer) locations and mini-games. Imperative to the success of this project is the completion of the overall TrashCanKidz website, where parents and children can learn about the mission, register for the game, and purchase the physical TrashCanKidz products like the doll and trading cards.

Custom Avatar

Instead of having to select from a preexisting set of TrashCanKid avatars to play with, players will be able to design their very own custom TrashCanKid. They will be able to choose unique hairstyles, eye color and clothing, and as they navigate The Forgotten World new features will be unlocked, allowing them to design a TrashCanKid that truly represents themselves.

New Areas

Players will be able to visit new areas, each with their own quests and mini-games.

Dream Worlds

To bring the TrashCanKidz to life, players will be able to visit the dreams and imagination of each of the TrashCanKidz they’ve adopted. Through unique Mini-Games and animated videos, the story of the TrashCanKidz and The Forgotten World is further enhanced.

Bugz

As an added layer of stickiness and fun, TrashCanKidz can now have pets, called Bugz. Bugz eggs will be spread out across The Forgotten World, and players will be able to discover and collect Bugz, which offer the loving companionship of a pet.

Multiplayer

There is currently very limited multiplayer functionality in the game, and with the intended updates, players will be able to interact with their friends and play multiplayer games, teaching children the power of working together. It’s of the upmost importance that any online interaction takes place in a highly controlled, moderated, and safe environment, and funding will help to develop a safe and secure platform parents will be comfortable with and kids will love.

Additional Languages 

For greater reach and resonance worldwide, we will translate the game into various languages. As the TrashCanKidz were designed to represent children from all over the world multi-lingual support is key to our long term plan.

Collectibles

For the collectors, TrashCanKidz will also be available as 2" pocket size collectibles. These will feature the 20 TrashCanKidz dressed in different outfits and with different accessory items. We’re about ready to go to production and additional funds will see the introduction of the first 60 TrashCanKidz Collectibles!
