What is The Wall?

An original collaboratively created multi-media theater event based on the question, what creates walls of separation between us and what we need most? A woman enters her dream and faces a wall: beyond it, realms of light. Inspired by a vision of contemporary Sufi mystic Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, and performance styles of Vaudeville to Butoh, The Wall explores a dream-landscape of our individual and collective longing. Premiers July 2012 at Center Stage in Santa Cruz, CA. as director's choice for the Santa Cruz Fringe Festival.

How will my pledge count?

Help us reach our goal of $2,500 by June 30th! Your contribution goes a long way to bringing this show to it's feet. As a small theater company, we rely on the kindness of friends and strangers. We couldn't do this without you. Since this show is being created from scratch, our biggest fees are the hours needed in the theater to create and rehearse the show. In addition to those fees, we are building our own set, costumes and props and there are also fees associated with being a participant in the Fringe Festival which will cover the cost of the performance venue, ticketing, etc.

An example of how your contributions can help, if you donate:

• $10 this buys us materials for puppet costumes
• $25 contributes towards the cost of materials to build our set, (the actual wall)
• $100 buys us a few hours of rehearsal time in the theater where the show will be performed

Our Mission

Theater Between is an interdisciplinary ensemble of performers and artists whose goal is to devise original works for the stage through the exploration of dream-states. Employing mind/body techniques from diverse performance and spiritual traditions, we delve into the realm of individual and collective imagination, searching for what needs expression in our common journey towards awakening.  We recognize theater as a sacred space of expression and healing, and strive to articulate it within a community with whom we co-create and share our work.
