Always best to contact me directly with questions either through my email or on the ODD74 forum or at least through sending a message. I didn't realize the comment section here was even still active but happened to check on a whim. Good thing I did. Michael, keep an eye on the updates. I gave the layout team extensive notes and revisions to their last draft in mid february. I don't know for sure how far they have gotten with the changes, but it shouldn't take them much longer. I'll post an update soon either way, but I was hoping to see their latest, and hopefully last, draft first.

Hi Michael, the target number is merely the bare minimum needed to fund the project and the stretch goal represented a chance at more art for the main project and just enough to fund the stretch goal itself. There won't be any more stretch goals as they become self defeating in terms of the time and quality they demand. Any more funds raised will simply go to more art, professional layout, and ensuring a decent sized print run.

C&K, Re-edit is the most accurate term. CoZ does expand what is found in the original printed rules, but only by drawing on material derived from the earlier wargames booklet (which the rules themselves call for), the Beyond This Point Be Dragons manuscript (see my blog for details on that) and other material by Gygax and Arneson, especially Arneson's campaign notes and Gygax's house rules.
BTW, if you are wondering why I'm not using the names of published material, it is because the terms of the open game license don't allow it unless an agreement is made first. So, it's a little awkward, but I hope not too confusing.

In the interest of getting you a swifter response, at the expense of first-hand confirmation. I sent DHB a message in order to get some clarification, and from what I could tell by his response, this is like an alternate evolution of the original books.
Take the first published edition, go back to their source notes, and extrapolate the notes out again to make a different game. It's kind of like how PFRPG or Hackmaster took a new edition, went back to their source, and developed out in a better direction, except this is going all the way back to the original source of the genre. The final product should be stand-alone and not require any other books to use.

Great idea guys. I started with old books before "The Book" set was available. I don't exactly remember the names - something like "Mordie and Grimoire" or something that sounded like that and a little silver book I don't remember the name of at all. When my son was about 10 and wanted to start RPG, I ended up writing my own with very basic rules and no Knitting/Jumping/Campfire Starter skills to keep track of. It became popular with the local kids for a few years. Mom's actually thanked me for it. So, this is great and I am happy to back you on this project.
