The Making of Soul Trance: Back Story

At the start of 2012, 27 Lights set out to develop a new set of songs at the band's home in Uptown New Orleans. The first recordings began in March: Bob Payne, Bill Fletcher and Vince Winik laid down drum, guitar, piano, and bass tracks, then sent the skeleton songs out to a short list of vocalists and instrumentalists invited to contribute to the album.

What We Need to Do Now

We're now ready to begin performing in support of Soul Trance in the Baltimore, DC, and Richmond areas with featured artist Meagan Simone. We also hope to go on tour this winter with Thomas Tah Hyde. But since we spent every cent we had to produce the album, we have no money.

We need about $5000 to be road ready. First, we need to pay registration fees for our record and pay a couple of bills we incurred in setting up our rehearsal space. Together this should cost $800.

Second, we need a trailer to haul our equipment around. These run about $2000.

We also need to get more T-shirts, CD's, and stickers, which will cost $1200. Finally we'll need some money to pay for food, gas, and occasional lodging. For this we budget $1000 to get started, then hope to fund the tour using revenues from the shows.
