Thank you for your interest in helping with the international promotion of Eric Vaughn's new CD, Minor Relocation.

During his more than four decades in jazz, pianist-composer Eric Vaughn has played with some of the genre’s leading lights. He has performed up and down the West Coast (from Vancouver, British Columbia, to the San Francisco Bay Area), in Europe, and in North Africa. But his own music, in which he fuses elements of Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, McCoy Tyner, and others to forge a distinctively personal approach he describes as “hard bop to modern-esque,” has largely fallen under the jazz radar screen—a situation sure to be rectified with the release this summer of Minor Relocation, his first nationally distributed recording.

Vaughn recorded the CD over a three-year period, working in Seattle with bassists Nate Omdal and Mark Bullis and drummers Nicholas Quitevis and Jamiel Nance, and in the Bay Area with tenor saxophonist Bob Kenmotsu, bassist John Wiitala, and drummer Kent Bryson.

This project aims to support the release and promotion of the new CD, which will in turn enable Eric to secure gigs at better venues playing for a wider audience and with a more diverse array of musicians, and to embark on some of the many other projects that have been brewing in his mind that he hopes to accomplish in his musical career.

What’s already been completed:

• The recording and manufacturing of the CD

 • Design and upkeep of the website (www.ericvaughnjazz.com)

• Hiring of professional promotion team

The money raised through this project would cover the following costs:

• Lisa Reedy Promotions (http://jazzpromotion.com). A full-service radio promotion company, specializing in jazz music.

 • Publicist Terri Hinte (http://www.terrihinte.com). Customized publicity services for jazz recording artists.

• The services of a web designer to update the website and other web-related assistance.

5% of any funds left over after all expenses are paid will go to Bay Area Youth Arts, a nonprofit youth development organization through the arts program http://www.bayyoutharts.org/. The rest will provide start-up funds for future Vaughn projects.
